HKS Pop-Off Valves
HKS Adjustable Pop-Off Valves provide secondary overboost protection
in the event of wastegate malfunction or failure. These valves
simply pop open at a preset amount of boost pressure allowing excess boost
to blow off to the atmosphere. Depending on the horsepower levels
of a vehicle, four springs with varying rates are available creating more
or less boost pressure, depending on the desired boost level.
ByPass Valves
The function of a compressor bypass valve is to relieve compressor
surge (pressurised air forced backwards through the turbo upon deceleration)
without reducing compressor speed. Repeated stress from compressor
surge can damage and turbocharger and over time cause turbo failures.
The compressor by-pass valve plays a vital role in any successful turbo
system by releasing built up boost pressures when the vehicle is no longer
under load (between shift points). The bypass valve not only
improves performance of a vehicle, but it increases the life span of the
turbocharger.
HKS offers four types of compressor bypass valves: Standard, Racing, Super Sequential Blow-Off valve and the Racing Blow-Off Valve Type II. The standard bypass valve is designed for air flow associated with engines producing upwards of 300hp. Racing bypass valves offer an additional pressurised port to help force the valve open under severe boost conditions. The Racing bypass valve can also be used as safety pop-off valves.
